Tales for The Sea is a series of novels which documents the lives of a small working class town in the North of England. The first novel in this series is The State of Youth Today.

After receiving a tip off that his old high school is going to be attacked, PC Sebastian Silver decides to break protocol and investigate the masked gang known as The Sea who are terrorising his town.

Will his hunch be right, or will his inexperience and ego lead him to a dead end?

Kids from kids from kids run rampant in the street, teachers are unable to do their jobs through fear of verbal and physical abuse, business owners have been run out of town; and there is the unwritten 9pm curfew for anyone who looks over the age of 25.

Despite building activity, visibility, and arrogance over the past six months, Police are no closer to nailing a single member of the masked gang at the heart of this teenage crimewave - The Sea. When Police Constable SEBASTIAN SILVER receives a tip off that this former high school is going to be the target of an attack, he has less than a week to discover, understand, and stop them.
